The Thing's The Thing

the thing
in between her thighs
sticking out
is my head
...

or on the cusp of reality
there is just realty
and a piece of paper
with ink

such a fine line between
poetry and poverty
and property

mere letters separate these
things

but my head is sticking out
I am Hamlet
The play's the thing...

*************

Good Riddance To Yesterday

having gone to the bathroom for the 50,000th time
and slept through a quarter of my life
and spent 1/24th of it on the road going back and forth to work
and the rest of it waiting in line, watching tv, reading words
and not fully aware that my brain is slowly disintegrating
and that there are millions of nukes and billions of numbers
and a zillion diseases just waiting to zap me into eternity
and here a frog stares at me next to a tiny desk fan
that could blow me away at any moment
and having completed an assessment of an assessment
of an assessment and dotted every I, crossed every T
and found out that I did not in fact dot every I, cross every T
and on top of that, my friend, the world smells like decayed whathaveyou and the sounds of vaccuums and drills
and jackhammers and blondie singing one way or another
and she sounds like the bill collector who keeps leaving messages and the taste of stale cold year-old coffee
we are certain of only one thing...
Tomorrow could suck donkey brains
compared to today, but at least I will
have taken it and sucked it through my straw
and splattered it onto the canvas
you witness in front of you
it may be narcissistic and ugly
but it is true, so true that you have to deny it
to deny it.

(one minus one)

out here
in nature
where rain pelts trees
into homogeneous
every trees
we scramble
for what's left
of the kill
or the fruit
that is in decay
but don't sweat it
there really is more
where this came from
whether you like it or not

Food Channel

having gone nowhere
we must wait here
or expect an eternity
of paula dean yawling
this too is overrated
but so is everything else
you must jump off the bridge
to find out if you can swim
