Birthday Weekend Recap

This is a little filler entry before I answer 10 questions in that question meme that's been going around jwalker lately. So...

So, for my birthday I got: sushi dinner, hot tub and a massage (well, a future massage, given by a professional, which I'm very much looking forward to) from Tim, a dark red chenille slipcover for our sofa, the complete works of Gregory Maguire and a book on herbal healing from Mom, a wonderful selection of Bath Bombs from Lush from Jenn and Greg, and two rejections: one from Ellen at Sci Fiction and another from Carina at Realms. I was really hoping for an acceptance on my birthday, but it seems it was not meant to be. Ah well. Both stories were back in circulation within 24 hours, so I'm keeping the faith and all that.

So, the weekend was full of lovely domestic stuff with Tim. Saturday we went out and bought an outrageously expensive but incredibly delicious tiny cake for my birthday, along with special pills to allow me to eat it without pain (I can *taste* the butter in the frosting). Sunday we spent the day cleaning -- Tim did the kitchen, and I did the bathroom. I find these household work days extremely satisfying, if a rather exhausting -- the bathroom was so clean you could eat off the floor when I was finished, and it's still shiny enough to cheer me up and give me a sense of accomplishment everytime I go in there.

After cleaning, we went to see Mystic River, which was every bit as good as everyone says it is, then home to Sunday night TV. Overall, a pretty good weekend, though there were some low points I'm not mentioning here. I'm still practising my "I'm in a good mood, dammit" method of lifting myself out of depression, and for the most part, it's working. So, yay!

This week has been going very slowly, however. We're still incredibly understaffed at work, and Monday night I wanted to cry my arms and hands hurt so much from order entry. My manager is still being exceptionally understanding and nice, though, so I actually don't mind too much. Yesterday we were even off phones, which meant I got to run around and help in the warehouse, which is like having field trip at school, it's that different from a normal workday.

Ok, I'm going to try and answer these questions now so I can get those up later today. Ciao!
