I have now lost about 13 pounds! Go me! I have a neat trick I do to see my weight loss in fast-motion. My cat, Zanzibar, he weighs 13 pounds. Whenever I'm feeling fat, I step on the scale with the cat and look at my old weight. Heavy! Then I put the cat down and voila! I've lost 13 pounds! Go me!

Heh.

I went to the dentist this morning and my hygenist even noticed that I'd lost weight! I love that. I don't ever expect anyone to notice, but I sure love it when they do.

In other news, we now have an XBOX. I've been against game systems ever since my mother wouldn't let us have an Atari growing up, though Tim has been trying to wear me down on the issue ever since he moved in with me. But, when he sold his novel and wanted to treat himself with a game system and an iPod, well, I couldn't put up a fight about it. He deserves to have a game system; he sold a novel!

Anyway, he bought Soul Caliber and I bought the Buffy game, Chaos Bleeds. It's pretty cool, so far, especially since Joss had a lot to do with the game and almost all the characters are voiced by the original cast. It's kind of like watching an extended episode of Buffy, but a little harder on the hands (and with extended fight scenes). I'm going to have to get the first game (forget the subtitle) once I'm done with this one. That's gonna take awhile, though, because I really suck at controlling movement in video games.

We also went out and bought tiny crickets and flightless fruitflies for our new praying mantis, Jack. We'd been leaving out the bananas and shaking them to catch fruit flies and feed them to him, but that's not something we really wanted to have to keep up for a long time, ya know? It's pretty cool to watch this tiny mantis eat tiny crickets; I can't wait until he gets nice and big.

Speaking of things that eat bugs, I tried tried tried to make my final selections for fiction for Flytrap #3 this past weekend, but to no avail. I mean, I managed to let a few more go, and I have a few slots filled (though no acceptances sent out yet), but there are still three times as many stories as I have slots left, and I'm having a hard time deciding. Gah. An embarrassment of riches, definitely. I'm just too soft and things are weeded down to where every rejection I send out kinda breaks my heart a little. I think the deciding factor might end up being word count at this point; I have 10,000 words of space left, give or take, and it's unlikely I'm going to buy a 5000 word story. Not impossible, but unlikely. Sorry!

Wiscon this weekend! Yippee! Man, do I love this convention! I can't wait to see all the regulars, plus all the new folks who are going for the first time. It's the best con. I didn't manage to sign up for any panels or do any artwork this year again but now that it's fast approaching, I'm sort of glad. I'd be nervous as hell about a panel and I'm bad enough at packing without having to figure out how to transport art. I do wish I'd signed up to do a reading, though; I love reading. Sigh.

I guess that's it for now. Ciao!
