Sleepy, so sleepy...

Despite my sleepiness, I thought I'd update. Here we go!

It's been an interesting week. Things I've done daily include walking nearly 10,000 steps a day (usually by walking on my breaks at work and taking lovely, half-hour-long strolls with Tim at night), eating more veggies and working on my novel on BART. I'm averaging, this week, writing about 1000 words a day, which isn't bad. The only reason I'm getting that much is because I'm shooting for 2000 words a day. Why, yes, my alarm clock is set 15 minutes fast, how did you know?

No, but the novel is going well, which is nice. I'm handwriting on the train, though, and my right hand cramps by the end of the ride. The beadwork I do at night is going more slowly because the act of holding a pen isn't that different from the act of holding one's fingers together to bead, and I just can't do it too much without really causing pain. But, hey, I've always kind of liked the tortured artist idea... I just thought it involved more drinking.

Drinking! I haven't been able to for awhile, but at the party last Sunday up at Tim's work, I drank wine like it was water. Since I was driving, this meant we stayed much longer than the hour or so we thought we would. Kidding! I mean, yes, we did stay longer, but it was due to the fabulous company rather than me drinking too much of Charles' fine wine. I mean, I had wine, but I never got tipsy, you know? Anyway, lovely conversation with Eileen Gunn about our similar writing speed (er, not super-fast) and housing and whatnot. Good food, as usual. Very nice.

Speaking of lovely conversations and good food, I finally met Shmuel in person on Monday night. I've known Shmuel online since, what, 1998? and I just now met him face-to-face! Talk about a crazy interthing world we're living in. I gave him the fancy Blowfish tour and we went to a Vietnamese restaurant where he gave me not one, not two, not three but FOUR mix CDs! Two of them made just for me :-) Shmuel was just as sweet in person as he is online, although he does speak New Yorker (read: very fast), but luckily I have some practice speed-listening from Nick, so all was well. It was really cool finally meeting him.

The weather around here, if you haven't heard, is crazy good right now. Sorry for all you East Coast folks, but it's freakin' summertime in the Bay Area. It was in the mid 80's today, sunny and just gorgeous as all get-out. I wish I could have found my sandals. We need to put the screens in this weekend. I love living in California.

G'night!
