Fantasy/ Sci-fi Art Doll Show in SF

My dear friend Richard (aka the shipping boy, aka my male wedding attendant, aka the Tropism Press "pet artist") is having a reception for his new art show in San Francisco tomorrow night. This show is called "Small Souls" and features 10 art dolls that he crafted by hand. If you've seen his drawings in Flytrap (or the Holiday Chapbooks), you already know what a great artist he is, but if you've yet to see his 3-D work, you owe it to yourself to swing by. He'll be showing 10 dolls, let's see if I can remember their names:

  • MerMaid (mermaid as French Maid)
  • Anne Droid (1950's rollerskate waitress as android, complete with rocket skates)
  • Herb (with a potted plant for a head, roots for a face)
  • Widow (white widow spider -- she's too lovely to describe in words)
  • Mummy (1950's mother as mummy)
  • CowBoi (androgonious cowgirl with cow's head)
  • Robert (Robot as Geek or vice versa)
  • Devil in a Blue Dress
  • Surrealia

And, yes, I am blanking on the last one. Anyway, you can see a picture of the devil, to show you how beautiful these dolls are by looking at the invite here.

The show is now through December 24th, but the reception is tomorrow (Saturday, November 19th) from 6 - 9 PM. If you can make it, I hope to see you there!
