Progress! Actual progress!

The kitten keeps climbing behind my computer today, and it's very annoying. It would be less annoying if I cleaned off my desk, so she had less clutter to gleefully dash to the floor, but that is so clearly writing-avoidance behavior, I'm not sure I can indulge.

I made a decision this week to temporarily stop trying to work on the YA and instead start work on the new, shiny novel (working title: Cat's Meow) that I've been making notes on and thinking about for months now. I blame the New Year and wanting to start fresh and the whole season. It's probably for the best, though: since making this decision, I have actually *worked* on my new novel, including writing part of a *scene*. Actual progress! Whereas I seriously doubt if I had made the decision to work on the YA instead that any work would have been done this week. So, I believe this is a good idea.

Don't get me wrong: I'm still going to finish Sienna's Summer, I'm just taking a break.

The week's been pretty good since I stopped being so sick. Sure, I've gained back a few pounds, but I'm also not as dehydrated as I was, either, so that's for the best. We went to the gym on Thursday and had a very good workout. I love the high I have the next day after working out. I'm also making myself do some sit-ups and pushups (!) every day. The pushups are because the modern dance class I take always makes us do at least 24 of them (if the number makes no sense to you, you don't know how to count like a dancer), and I noticed the last couple of times that instead of shaking in plank position before plummeting to the floor, I actually can dip my body down and up a little bit each time. Actual progress! I figure if I try a few every day, eventually I'll even be able to go all the way down and up. Pushups are ridiculously good for you, workout lots of parts of your body all at once, so I hope I keep this up!

Today, we're going to knock around here (maybe clean my desk, maybe type in the bit of my novel I wrote so I don't end up with it all at the end like last time) and then go see Children of Men, because that's the kind of shit I really dig. Whee!

Have a great weekend, y'all!
