Guess Who?

Y'know, I've been thinking about how I'm going to announce this for weeks now, and I haven't come up with the perfect way yet. So I'm just going to say that on or around this Halloween, gods willing and the creek don't rise, Tim and I should become parents (and not of cats) for the first time.

In other words, I'm pregnant!

We found out about two months ago, but of course you're not "supposed" to tell until week 13. I managed to keep mum about it in this journal by mostly just not journalling, and since I'll hit week 13 on Wednesday, well, I thought I'd just go ahead and tell you all.

We're calling the unborn babe "Pixel" (and we came up with this well before the Pixel-stained wretch day was thought up; I assume our Pixel staining will occur in the "4th trimester" in the form of spit-up). And, yes, I'm due on Halloween. I really hope I hit the exact day, though Nov. 1 (the day of the dead) is a cool day too.

So far, everything is going well. I'm slowly coming out of the morning sickness (mostly nausea for me), and I'm hoping the sheer, nearly narcoleptic exhaustion will end soon, too. I had an ultrasound around week 8 and it was just a little grey blob with a very fast beating heart; by now it's the size of a large lime (though every source tells me different) and has pretty much all its parts -- they just need to develop and get bigger now.

We don't know yet whether it's a boy or a girl -- we're going to find out. I think it's a girl, even though I keep having dreams that it's a boy. I have an ultrasound scheduled in early June, and I hope we find out then.

Anyway, I guess that's it for now. I'm sure I'll be blathering on about baby stuff here often enough! Baby baby baby!

We're both incredibly excited!
