Happy Belated Barzak Day

I'm going to blame baby brain for getting this up two days late. Just so you know.

Chris Barzak is one of those people destined to become a legend... not that he isn't one already, at least among those in certain circles, but I can't help but think that his unique combination of deeply personal, exquisite writing and vivacious, get-this-party-started-and-going-all-night personality will make him a favorite subject of stories when we're all old and grey and boring the next generations with our in-jokes and anecdotes at awards banquets.

But that's the future. Today, well, ok, two days ago, is the day that Barzak's first novel, One for Sorrow comes out. I was lucky enough to read an early draft of this novel, but it was long enough ago that I'm looking forward to rereading it and enjoying it all over again. Chris has the ability to set you down inside his character's brains and bodies, and reading his writing is emotionally intensely satisfying. I feel very lucky to know him, to get to dance with him at Wiscon and perform "Love Shack" with him once a year, and, of course, to read his work. If you haven't yet, you should run out and buy One for Sorrow and read it right away.
