Flipping the Bird

Okay, so I got soppy and sentimental about the baby finches leaving me with an empty nest. Since my last post, the neighborhood’s gone to the dogs, er, I mean birds.

Well, as is often the case, the kids are back, but with more baggage than just dirty laundry for me to fluff & fold. I think we have an epidemic of unwed teenage mothers. We now have two nests, one in each light fixture and 4 eggs in each nest. Boy howdy, the shit is flying – literally. And to top it off, we haven’t seen any of the daddy birds flitting about – their markings are distinctively different with a swath of red feathers.

And like our current global conditions, war has broken loose – ya know, the same old issues of resources and territory. Jesus, Joseph and Mary, my once-upon-a-time peaceful porch has become star wars with finches swooping and soaring like stealth bombers.

Carumba-bull-dung-stinky-cakes!

It’s gonna come down to these options: We can post a NO VACANCY sign, or we can install additional light fixtures. I’m still trying to think of a third option that will work. I'm not heartless.

ON TO OTHER NEWS AND TIDBITS:

1. In a few minutes, I’m off to Laguna Beach for a fancy-pants event to raise scholarship funds at the local art college. I am one of the artists being honored for a painting I donated. Gotta go and root around for a lipstick or something to make myself presentable.

2. I love my new job at Fallbrook Hospital as a switchboard operator. I’ll post more about this later. The training is going well – only frustrating thing is that I have yet to see George Clooney or Noah Wyle. I did spot an Anthony Edwards look-a-like. Gah.
