Parrr-tay!

Well. I was pretty impressed with my Heifer International gifts (my post of 10 minutes ago) and then got a call from my youngest who lives in Washington, D.C. and is a teacher for Teach for America. He called to say he’d had a hectic weekend and had decided to just walk around the city and enjoy the sights. As we gaily gabbed, he was strolling by the White House Christmas Tree – and was about to amble over to the Washington Monument. This kid has loved D.C. for as long as I can remember – I can’t even think of a clever quip to describe the passion he has for D.C. Several summers ago when he was interning, he went to Arlington Cemetery for the 4th of July ceremonies. I can’t think of many kids who would do that. *sigh*

Anyway, I don’t care who’s in office at the moment. I don’t care how loathsome American politics have become… I’m about to burst with some news David just gave me. He’s been invited to the White House Christmas party – his date is an appointee for the Secretary of Education (or was it Agriculture?). Good God… who cares! He’s going to the White House and I think it’s pretty nifty!

BTW, The Heifer gifts are still cool – I just lost my head there for a moment. :)
