The Art of Summer

Collecting art has been my drug of choice for many years. :) Below are photos of some of my summer acquisitions. Enjoy.

Tibetan prayer flags by Kate Duncan. I *met* Kate at Cary’s List of the Day. She is gentle and generous of heart. Her site is at flederhaus.com

I am a big fan of Ken Auster. Those of you from Laguna Beach who visit here will *smile* when you view his paintings. Ken is an amazing talent and even more amazing friend. His paintings represent a significant segment of my collection. These are my newest additions. Sorry for the glare:

By Bebo

I have followed and collected Bebo for many years and have always wanted one of these. Years ago he misspelled *too* and it stuck with great popularity. :)

By Robert Short

Bob is a personal friend of mine from Sewanee. Like Ken Auster, Bob has developed a strong regional following and popularity. I broke the bank for this one, but I love its gentle environmental message. Like many Outsider artists, Bob always has a quote to accompany his paintings. Of interest, Bob doesn’t *sell* his canvases anymore. To honor his sister, he set up a foundation in her name at Georgia University (I believe… I will check my facts.) Someone manages the sales and deposits the monies into the foundation. Pretty cool, huh?

I acquired this turquoise cross at the San Luis Rey Mission in Southern California when I was with my mother this summer. I took a break from the hospital to visit a good friend from the mountain, Pamela Puckette, who also lives in Encinitas.

This puppet head dates from the 1800s and is French. I couldn’t resist him.
