Today has been insanely busy... but with good stuff. It was a treat to meet up with a friend whom I've not seen all summer.

We gabbed and planned some of our volunteer hospitality for this next weekend at a retreat we're both attending at St. Mary's. The retreat's theme is Befriending Life: The Practice of Lovingkindness.

This is what the brochure says about the weekend and the question at heart:

Will you engage this moment with kindness or with cruelty, with love or with fear, with generosity or with scarcity, with a joyous heart or an embittered one? This retreat helps to choose rightly, opting for lovingkindness again and again, drawing from many religious perspectives as an interspiritual exploration of compassion, the core value of all authentic religious practice. The presenter is Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro, award winning author and poet.
