Gratitude Check

It's been a long day. Lots of wonderful goodness with a smattering of sad.

Today my book club met, The Steel Azaleas. We discussed Atonement by Ian McEwan. Quite frankly I'm too pooped to give an overview of our discussion, but the vote was pretty much 50-50. The main complaint was the extra slow pace of the first part of the book. Everyone agreed that McEwan is an incredible writer. Below is a pic of me with two of my fellow readers:

With little turnaround time, I sped home to get a potluck dish for a birthday celebration I was headed for. During the past 1½ years I’ve met with this group of women every Monday evening. We rejoice the support and love we have for each other. These women are amazing. Tonight we gathered to celebrate a birthday, but to also write on a piece of paper something we wanted to release. Some requests were specific, some general - like wanting to release fear of old age, fear of money woes, fear of conflict etc. After we shared our Release Requests, the papers were put in a tiny metal pot and ignited... and released. I'm sure the symbolism doesn't escape you.

Below are photos of this beloved group of mine. In the group shot I'm on tiptoes, which is so silly - it's always so obvious. LOL. It is also the photo I posted on 365Envisage.

Amongst this happy group is a beautiful woman who announced tonight that she has stage four lung cancer - the non-smoking variety - and is terminal.
