Seasonal Traditions

Our Christmas Lamp is a tradition that originates back to the years when I couldn't afford a Christmas Tree so I decorated a favorite lamp imbued with lots of family history - it was David great-grandparent's lamp. In the interim (since those paycheck to paycheck days) we've had traditional trees drenched in the fragrance of fir... but our favorite *tree* has always been our Christmas Lamp. It's truly a wonder what a family can do to create a treasured memory.

I have a lovely mannequin on my front porch. She's my official greeter and I dress her in seasonal attire. During the summer she looks quite fetching in golf togs and cleats and a 3-iron and a visor from Waterville - an amazing golf course on the Dingle Peninsular in Ireland. I used to be a lousy golfer, but I shot my best round ever the day I played Waterville. As you can see, she dressed as Santa's helper.
