Lilies of the Field

The shutters are open and the glory of this day bathes me in sunlight and the warmth of love.

I just discovered an Easter Lily on my front porch. Earlier today it was in the Sanctuary at Morton Memorial. Tucked at its base was the inset from this morning's program. It was a list of people who had donated lilies. On the list was:

Nancy and Wayne Bradshaw, in honor of Reenie Fulton

Tears of gratitude.

Such a kind and beautiful gift.

This blabbery-blubbery person is at a loss for words - they are all safe in my heart - every thought and word of gratitude.

It's been such a lovely day.

I exchanged emails with a dear from Kansas City... someone from the Tuxedo days of young marriage, young children, heady futures. I think of those friends more often than they know. Such fondness. We were so young. So much promise. And all our dreams did come true! Though not at all as we had planned. *laughing* We remember each other with gentle hearts. How fortunate we are.

Matthew 6:25-29
25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

Sorry - in the chaos of my home, the lilies blend in, which might have a symbolism of its own.

As always, thanks for stopping by. Love.

P.S. On the mountain I'm known as Reenie Fulton. Every place else, I'm Irene Bean. I know... confusing. And no - I'm not in Witness Protection.
