Hullo.

I have to apologize. I have been extremely negligent in the upkeep of this journal, and of the website in general. It's now officially the holiday season, and things are busier than ever. Despite the downturn in the economy, my company has more business than ever, and it's now a rare weekend where I don't go in for a few hours just to catch up.

The writing is going well, if I haven't actually been producing any new work in the last couple of weeks. After a flurry of creativity, I'm just pooped. The ol' sensuous manifold needs to recover for a while. But I now have seven stories out floating around at the various markets, waiting to be discovered:

"One Big Crunch" is at Horrorfind.com after being rejected by the nice folks at the Dark Terrors 6 anthology in the UK. I tell you, if you going to be denied, it's neat to be sent such a nice rejection letter. It will be a miracle if this story ever sees print. It's probably the most controversial thing I've ever written, and it takes a certain type of person to understand it. This was the story that drove a woman out of my writers' group.

"Wicked Game" is still with Kathleen Ann Goonan, who is extraordinarily busy with her own career, and who has been nice enough to take a look at this novelette. I just hope I get it back from her soon so I can send it to Black Gate magazine.

"Little Miracles" is at the 2nd Biennial Ursula K. Le Guin Contest for imaginative fiction, sponsored by Rosebud Magazine.

"Shiny Diner Blues" has just been sent this weekend to Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet, a neat little zine with an incredible reputation. Kelly Link's (now) husband is the editor.

"Wake Up Call" is at Fish Publishing's annual short story contest in Ireland. The winners are included in a very sharp anthology, and grand prize gets $1,200.

"Book Storey" is at DreamHaven Books for the anthology they are producing containing stories about book stores. This story is the one I am most proud of. So far.

"Songstress" is at Horror Garage, a fairly small magazine that has managed to put a dozen authors into various "Year's Best" anthologies. The head fiction editor is Paula Guran, a smart lady and a really good editor. She picks the really good stuff.

And finally, "Going Home" is at the Glimmer Train Very Short Fiction contest.

That should keep you for now. If anybody is actually out there reading this. Well are you? Hullo?
