Riding the High

Got another 700 words done for Chapter 5 tonight. I took the laptop over to the Borders cafe, stuck on the headphones, and went to it.

I'm still riding the high from getting into Clarion. I've gotten lots of congratulations and good wishes, so I feel warm and fuzzy all over right now. My submissions to the workshop were "Wake Up Call," "Songstress" and "Shiny Diner Blues." It's also a nice validation of my work, since the good folks at Clarion thought these stories were good enough to get me in. I must be on the right track at the very least.

Hee hee.

I finished Brittle Innings by Michael Bishop last night, and loved it. It's a great novel. I've just started Voice of Our Shadow by Jonathan Carroll, and I just received in the mail today my preordered hardcover copy of The Scar by China Mieville from Amazon.co.uk.

And I went to see Amélie again today, which is playing at the $1.50 theater near me. That makes three times I've seen it in the theater. I can't wait to get it on DVD so I can watch it as often as I want.
