Mewling Inspiration

To my amazement, I got some writing done tonight: 1,661 words on Chapter Five, which completed the chapter. I got the idea today while on my ten-minute break at work; I heard this pathetic mewling in the trees above me, like a squeaky door swinging back and forth, and realized it was a bird, most likely a baby bird calling for its momma. And I thought, what if Florida, with her background in volunteering at the veterinary clinic, came upon a baby bird who had fallen out of a tree on her way to the police station. And wham! 1,661 words and the end of a chapter. Yay! That brings my total up to 11,600 words in four chapters. Each one is averaging about 3,000 words. Now I just need to go back and write Chapter Two, which is a flashback, and I'll have five consecutive chapters in a row.

Man, it feels good to be writing again.
