Sea Change

Currently listening to Sea Change, the new album by Beck, and loving it. It has the more melodious tone of his often-overlooked Mutations, the softer, slower songs that get back to his folk roots. If you're expecting another Odelay or Midnite Vultures, you're in for a surprise, but don't let that stop you. Once you get past the pastel cover, you'll hear some really great music. If you like Tom Petty, you'll love this album.

Did a final pass-over of my third draft for "One Less" and sent it back to Janet for any final comments she may have. It's interesting, she's the only one I consider sending my fiction to anymore; I guess because of the Clarion experience, I feel like she can give me the criticism I need. I really miss her.

Got approval to review White Apples for Green Man Review, so I'll be writing that and sending it off this weekend. I'll post the link to it in my Reviews section when it gets posted on the site.

Received my sister's screenplay for the Project Greenlight competition. Since the deadline is Tuesday, I'm going to read it and send it back with any suggestions by this weekend. I'll probably just crank through it tonight.

And I've got to start studying for the GRE. I take it on October 17, and I haven't even cracked open my study book yet.

This coming weekend is the annual Greek festival in the Kerr Scott building on the State fairgrounds. If you're in the area, come by for some great food, great music, and great dancing. I have a really good time every year (I would, since I'm half Greek), and you will too. The following weekend is Trinoc-con, the annual SF convention at the Durham Marriot. This year's GOH is Lois McMaster Bujold, and there will be a slew of other great guests there, including John Kessel, Andy Duncan, Kelly Link, Orson Scott Card, Michael Bishop, and North Carolina Poet Laureate Fred Chappell. If you have any interest in SF or Fantasy literature, this is the best local convention around.
