My review of Jonathan Carroll's White Apples is now up at the Green Man Review. It won't be "officially" published until Sunday, but you can take a sneak peek now, free of charge.

I did surprisingly well on the GRE yesterday. Out of 800, I got a 660 on the Verbal section, and 690 on the Quantitative. And I kicked some butt on the Writing Assessment section; I'll get the scores for that in around 15 days. Yay! I'm am so glad that it's over with; it was a pleasant change to not have to worry about studying last night.

I'll be sending "Book Storey" off to Karen Joy Fowler for the MOTA III: Courage anthology. I'll need to revise it slightly to get rid of the teeny fantastic element in the story, turning it fully into a mainstream tale. It was 98% mainstream anyway.

In the next week, I'm going to revise "One Big Crunch" for Tim Mullins at The Dream Engine. I've got some good ideas about tieing everything together to the main theme, and maybe expanding it a little. Tim said he was surprised it wasn't longer, and it always felt like it ended a little abruptly to me. So maybe I'll keep going, though I don't want it to expand much longer than its current length; it needs to be short and punchy.

"The Old Switcheroo" is on its merry way to the folks at ICFA, and Darrell Schweitzer definitely wants it for The Neil Gaiman Reader. He said he could probably send a contract relatively soon; he's finishing up The Tom Ligotti Reader right now, so it'll be after he gets all those contracts taken care of.

And the Clarion photos in LOCUS turned out really well. They were both in full color on glossy paper; one of the 2002 class in The Archives bookstore (where we held all the readings), and the other of the 35th Anniversary Reunion right before the gigantic Damon Knight Memorial Water Fight. I'll scan them this weekend and post the links here.

My buddy Jason is having a housewarming party in Wilson tonight, so I'll be heading over there after work. And Jamie is heading to my place tomorrow so we can go see the new Miyazaki anime Spirited Away at the Madstone Theater near my apt. And Sunday is a writing day. Busy busy busy.
