Well, it's Tuesday, and I still feel pretty puny (though not nearly as bad as Heather). I've steadily been getting better, but in small increments. Unfortunately, last night I couldn't turn my brain off until 3 a.m., so while I was waiting for sleep to overcome me, I got back on the computer and got two stories ready to send out along with two books bought by nice people at half.com.

(Speaking of books, I'm selling British editions of The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde ($18) and Travel Arrangements by M. John Harrison ($16), both first edition trade paperbacks by Hodder & Stoughton and Gollancz, respectively. $3 shipping. Email me if you're interested.)

I also emailed back and forth to my lady a bit, since she was online at the same time. Eventually, I gave up the ghost and went back to bed.

I woke up at 10:15, having completely slept through my alarm and missed my postmodernism class this morning. Dammit. If there's any class this semester I absolutely can't miss, it's that one. So I emailed the professor and apologized and asked what was covered. I'll be so much happier when this cold is out of me and my sleep cycle returns to normal; I can no longer stay up until 3 in the morning like I could when I was eighteen.

After work yesterday, in preparation for the onslaught of Hurricane Isabel (it's going to slam into the Outer Banks sometime Thursday), I went to the grocery store to stock up, in case my power and/or water is out for a week. I bought five gallons of filtered water, flashlights, batteries, candles (scented apple was the only kind they had that was cheap), and lots of non-perishable food items. I've been through a bunch of hurricanes here now, and know what kind of punch they can pack. It looks like it won't be coming up through the Raleigh area, though the edge of the storm will reach this far, so that still means lots of wind and rain and the possibility of power outages. Bloody weather.

People on the coast have already boarded up their houses with plywood, though I can't see doing that here. If it gets that bad, I'll go hide in the closet until it's all over.

Twocranespress.com is now up and running, with a slight facelift. I've added contributor bios and a "somewhat true" account of the press's history, as well as a guestbook that you should all sign. While you're visiting, why not pre-order a copy of Four Seasons in One Day? C'mon, you know you want to. All the cool kids are doing it.

And finally, despite my attempts to leave off reviewing for a while, I've agreed to look at Tim's new collection, Little Gods, for a future GMR review. I'm still planning to buy the dead-tree version of the collection at World Fantasy (since he sent it to me as a pdf for review), but this way, I get a sneak peek. Hee hee.
