It snowed today. The weatherpeople predicted a dusting last night, less than an inch, but it got up to two inches in some parts of the state today. I woke up at 9:15 this morning, looked outside, and saw the landscape covered with white stuff. Pretty. I just wish I didn't have a bad sinus cold, otherwise I could go out and play in it.

So I was pretty much stuck at home today; good thing I went to the grocery store last night. I cold-called some companies about job openings, but the people who actually made it in to work didn't have any openings. Guh. Why can't I find a rich benefactor who'll just give me money?

Some cool news: I was talking to Jeff VanderMeer over email yesterday, and he offered me a spot on the Night Shade message board. So feel free to go over and mention what a genius I am. :) Or that I'm sexier than Keanu Reeves. Yeah, say that instead.

I've been interviewing wedding officiants this week, and have eliminated one guy already. I really like one other guy, but I'm also going to talk to a woman reverend tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully, by this time tomorrow, I'll know who I want to preside over my wedding.

Oh, and great news from Janet: she found out that her visa interview will be on January 29! Which means that conceivably, she'll be here shortly thereafter! YAAAAY!! I can't wait!

And my razza-fragga internet connection has been on the fritz again lately. I got used to the nice high-speed access at work, and it's hard to go back to an intermittent dialup connection. A couple of weekends ago, I bought a wireless card for my laptop, since I know a cafe nearby with free wi-fi, but I haven't been able to get it to work, which figures. Anybody out there have wi-fi laptop knowledge? I'd appreciate any help; just email me.

Cable modem is looking very nice right about now.

Yesterday around 5:00, I was getting stir crazy after calling employers all day, so I took the moleskine over to B&N, ordered a mocha, and wrote for over an hour. I put a cool dirigible thingy in the middle of "In Jurong", and I'm hoping to get it done in time for the zeppelin anthology.

Classes start again on Monday (well, Tuesday for me); I went over to the campus bookstore this week and got the rest of my books. This is going to be a very interesting semester, with classes in topics of which I have very little knowledge: Japanese Fiction and Social Modernity, 18th Century British Prose, and Narrative Theory. I think I'm actually looking forward to the theory class the most; I've been reading some books about writing (not how-to, but analysis), and am starting to get very interested in it.

Oh, and Sarah McLahlan's new CD Afterglow (which I got for Christmas) is freaking awesome. I must have looped it five times last night while doing my estimated taxes for the quarter.
