RULES: If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favorite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else. This is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

I'm going to deviate from this and post the first paragraph in these works, because it's my journal and I can.

From "BlueGreen Quietus," a novelette in progress:

"Blue sipped at her hazelnut-flavored Italian soda and glanced at her Mickey Mouse watch for the third time. Short arm on the twelve, long arm on the three. Zoran was late again. Lack of punctuality was one of Blue's pet peeves, and she got increasingly irritated with each subsequent tick of Mickey's tail. She had witnessed human beings systematically attempt to capture time throughout the ages, measuring in ever-finer increments of micro/nano/pico/femto, but as those measurements grew increasingly exact, it seemed to Blue that people found more and more ways to be late."
From "In Jurong," a novella in progress:
"Dane awoke under a banyan tree, naked and bereft of his memory. Offerings littered the ground around him: small woven bamboo baskets filled with the petals of various flowers and the occasional Ritz cracker. The fake grass under his naked buttocks was coarse, and dug into his skin. He could remember two things: his name, and that he had been searching for someone. Whenever he tried to picture his quarry's face, he saw nothing but water in his mind."
From "Wombat Fishbone," a short story in progress:
"J. Juniper Jellyfish. J. Jonah Junebug. J. Lemon Stegosaurus. I've seen all the names and more. Even once saw a J. Compound String of Circumstantial Evidence. No idea where that one came from. All these ridiculous combinations of names, though no one ever knew The Man, not like I did."
