And Some Days, the Universe Smiles!

Today was the day.

As previously mentioned in this Journal, my employer told me that they would not give me the time off from my job to attend my writing workshop later this month. Also mentioned was the fact that I was going anyway. Well, today was the day I had to walk into my boss's office and give my notice. (Yes, I was giving three weeks. My position isn't easy to fill.)

I explained to her that I didn't hold a grudge, it was a perfectly understandable decision not to give me the unpaid time off, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity.

You know what she said? Keep your letter of resignation for the time being. It's too difficult to find someone to handle that position. The customers love you, the rest of the office loves working with you, and every day I hear about how good of a job you do. Let me see what I can do.

That, my friends, is about as close to "I was wrong. Take the time off," that my boss can manage.

It looks like I'm not going to have to lose my job, after all.

Follow your dreams. The universe will provide.

Joseph Haines, signing off from The Edge of The Abyss.
