I had insomnia again last night. I flopped over and over in bed, trying to get comfortable, and willing sleep to take me. It eventually did, but it wasn't that goo, solid Stage IV sleep. It was restless and often disturbed, and when the alarm went off at 4am I wanted to scream.

But I got up and went to work and suffered through meetings and somehow made it through the day. I worked the last quarter of the day from the Pleasanton office, and when work was finished I wrote a few words, and then IM'ed with our Offshore conuterpart in India.

I came home and had dinner and resisted television while I read Email and played the guitar for a while. My son, who doesn't have school tomorrow, decreed that his bedtime was 10pm (instead of the normal 9pm), but ran out of things to do, so I read to him.

And after all this, I am knocking out a few more scenes in the novel. Because, when you have a quest and when you make a committment, you can give in to fatigue, stress, disinterest, angst, overwhelm, or whatever. You have to find a way to DO IT ANYWAY!

And that's the motivational part of this entry.

It's late, I know, but I figure if I'm going to be awake anyway, I may as well do something else besides lie in bed and stare into darkness.
