Novel Progress

So I have "officially" crossed over the 25K mark. This is further than I have ever gone with this novel. I started Chapter 10. Last time I wrote, I was in Chapter 9, and I decided to start a new chapter not because I thought Chapter 9 ended well, and not just to get to double digits, though that might be part of it. The real reason is that Chapter 9 was already 7 single spaced pages. Pretty long.

I am sure I will realign all the chapters during my second draft when I will also reorder the scenes.

I haven't yet gone back and "fixed" the scenes that need tweaking to make new scenes work. I'm just moving forward. Maybe that's good. Maybe not.

Funny...

This is one side of an actual cell phone conversation I heard in the restroom of Barnes & Noble tonight. The speaker was a young man, who was dressed well, and fairly eloquent. He had dark hair, styled and gelled, and thick Clark Kent glasses. Professional looking. He might have been an employee.

"I hear when you go to Sweden, or it may be Finland, they put these fake flies in the toilets, so when you pee, you have something to aim at."

PAUSE TO LISTEN

"Yeah, I used to do it all the time when I was little. It'd be like the pee would make bubbles and I would pretend I was G.I. Joe, or someone, and my mission was to destroy all the bubbles. Even though, the pee just made more bubbles."

I weep for the future.
