Mary and I went to see the Kenny Chesney show on July 18. I'm sorry to have waited so long to post about it, but things have been crazy, as usual.

First, I will say, as many have said on other blogs and reviews, that the big draw for the show was Sugarland. Mary really likes Sugarland, and I like Lady Antebellum, so it seemed worth the price. Keep in mind, we are still unemployed. And add to that, that I was up most of the night Friday with a rather severe case of food poisoning.

So it's Saturday, and I'm wondering if I can even go to the show, because my stomach is still lurching, and I haven't had any solid food in almost seventeen hours. Just two cold cans of sprite, which tasted devine.

Mary said we ought to go and at least try to sell the tickets.

So we get there, and after some cold coke, I start to feel better. Either the Coke helped, or the virus ran its course.

We arrived early and heard about Sugarland early on from the couple sitting next to us. They had friends up near the stage who heard the news. It was a huge disappointment for us, as that's who Mary really wanted to see.

Lady Antebellum rocked the house! They added a verse and chorus of YOU SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG to their hit LOOKING FOR A GOOD TIME without missing a beat. It was great. They're an excellent band. Miranda Lambert was equally good. Both Lady A and Miranda played extended sets, I confirmed by reading other reviews.

Now, about Sugarland...

I'm sorry Jennifer lost her voice, but I think it showed poor planning to try and record between shows. From what I have read, it's not the first time Sugarland has cancelled a show. This is the second time in the Bay Area.

What bothered me was that there was no announcement or acknowledgement from any of the other bands. What bothered me more was that there has been no word from Sugarland (that I could find) recognizing the Bay Area fans who paid to see them and got nada.

I watched their apology for dropping off the tour on You Tube. It was heart felt, and I feel bad that she hurt her voice, and I agree that she should rest it.

I don't know if I appreciated the humor, though. And when she said they'd be back out of the road to rock us again, it left me with the question ... does she expect me to pay for another ticket?
