We took the kids to Legoland this weekend. The kids *loved* it. If I weren't so loyal to Disney and it weren't so far away, I think I might like it better than Disneyland.

There's one area we went to that's a big water playground. It's a play area where water splashes all over and the slides are water slides. Marc wanted to go on it, so I took his shirt and shoes off and he ran around to go up the stairs. I turned my back to talk to Marcelo about where he was going with Alex since Alex didn't want to be anywhere near the water. I turned back around to watch Marc. I watched for awhile but didn't see him (I couldn't climb up without getting soaked and I hadn't brought a change of clothes for myself). I was starting to get worried that I hadn't seen him when I heard "there she is!" and a Legoland employee brought him over. In the maybe 20 seconds I'd turned my back, he'd decided it was too much water and gone back to find me but missed me and wandered away into the rest of the park.

He hadn't made it too far, but was obviously very upset. To this day I still remember my first day of Kindergarten when I got off the bus at the wrong stop and found myself totally alone with no idea where I was. I remember sitting on the curb and crying wondering how I'd ever find my way home. (Too much independence even at that age - I didn't even think of knocking on a door and asking for help) I can only imagine that he must have felt the same way. :( I hope he doesn't remember it for the rest of his life.
