Glass Houses is the first in the YA Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine.

I'd read her adult series, The Weather Warden Series, and thought it ho-hum. Why? Hmmm...I think because I felt the plot was nothing new, and the male lead did not win me over, and the powers were too complicated.

I think she does much better with Glass Houses. I was engaged by the two male leads (although they aren't very differentiated beyond hair color and that one's a ghost) and the underdog heroine.

While I'm still not completely convinced by her vampires-hiding-in-small-town scenario, I am going to read the second in the series.
