People complain about musicals.
They say:

Nobody just stops in the street
and breaks into song.

I say you know the wrong people.

Screenwriting questions wanted

Next week in New York is the Mystery Writers of America's national symposium, which is organized around the yearly Edgar Awards ceremony. On Wednesday the 28th, I'm moderating a panel on screenwriting that will include an executive producer of LAW AND ORDER, a staff writer from JUDGING AMY, and a co-producer of THE STATION AGENT.

The panel is called SCENE AND SCREEN: CASE STUDIES IN SCREENWRITING. Since the audience will (assumedly) be mostly people who are interested in learning about screenwriting and "the biz," I thought it would be a nice idea to open it up to questions from writers who read the same online forums I do.

No promises, since these things often run short on time, but if you've got a question you'd like me to pose to these successful industry people, post it here! I can't guarantee it'll get asked (or satisfactorily answered), but I can promise I'll have the list up onstage with me.

And if you're in New York for Edgars Week, I'll see you at the symposium or the Black Orchid's annual Edgars party.
