2006-05-25 8:13 AM Scam agent list The writers' website Absolute Write, which I've recommended as a good place for aspiring writers to hang out, has been shut down, apparently by Barbara Bauer.
Barbara Bauer is widely acknowledged as a scam agent. She appears on the "20 Worst Agents" list maintained by Writer Beware. Here is a link to that list: The 20 Worst Agents List, On Which Barbara Bauer Appears According to Teresa Nielsen Hayden, the person who pulled the plug on Absolute Write is Stephanie Cordray, who owns the web host. Stephanie was also an Absolute Write participant--who coincidentally relaunched her own writers' website on Monday. Barbara Bauer has a history of making nonsensical legal threats against anyone who mentions her or the "20 Worst Agents" list. Email received about this entry will be taken as acknowledgment by the author that I have permission to post it in its entirety. Which I will.
