Tuesday morning, I got a text message from Mike, who executive-produced both CREDO and I LOVE YOU, I'M SORRY, AND I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN. It said:

Both kids ok?

That was an odd phrasing, so I went to Google News and searched for "Rego Park." A two-year-old boy who lived about 400' from us had fallen from a sixth-floor fire escape and died that morning. We'd probably seen him at the playground.

I would already have put my boys being happy and healthy first on today's list, but now I can't come up with anything else that seems to matter.
