Bush signs Torture Law that also strips civil rights

I sit here some mornings, reading the news and it feels like I'm watching a movie. This feels like the build up to an action movie where the government eventually suspends all rights and declares martial law.

I'm... sometimes speechless about this. Our government is torturing people and when the Supreme Court steps up and declares, "Yes, you are torturing and no, that's illegal" you might think the response would be to stop the illegal action. However, for some reason, the response was to change the law so that the President can determine what's legal.

I just don't understand. Isn't anyone paying attention? :(
