Oh Say Can You ROCK?!

It has been a very full week! I've been wanting to post here about the stuff happening and July 4th and such, but I've been swamped. I've finally got a few moments, so it's time to catch up.

The weekend of the 4th was preceded by awesome home improvement with Kyle! Kyle is, in a nutshell, awesome. We had a couple of projects on the table and did a ridiculous amount of work. Kyle brought his tiny HD cam and made some great videos of our work. I'll be uploading those to YouTube tonight (unless Kyle has already done it) and I'll link them in another post.

Project #1 was to fix the cable in the master bedroom. Before the work, the cable came up through the floor of the 1st floor office, then ran out of the room, through the doorway, around the corner, up the stairs and over the wall to get to my bedroom TV. The door of the office couldn't be closed because the wires were in the way. With a little work and a new, big tool we made a hole through the ceiling of the office and the floor of the Master Bedroom. WOOT!

Project #2 was to fix the office! The office was the first room that I claimed as my own space in the house. It was actually done during the Dark TimesTM and wasn't done very well because of external pressures. I previously just painted EVERYTHING light blue. Walls. Ceiling. Trim. Windows. Doors. It was a TON of work to fix up, but Kyle was pumped and ready to rock! We emptied the room of all of its contents into the backyard. We ripped all of the old trim and baseboards out. Primed the ceiling, walls, doors and the new trim (which remained out by the garage). Then a coat of paint on everything: white on the ceiling, a creamy yellowy color on the walls, and a burgandy-ish color on the trim/baseboards/crown moulding. We installed the brand new crown moulding (no moulding before, so this was a completely new addition), the trim and the baseboards. It made the whole room look AMAZING!

I don't have much in the way of still photos because my camera was broken at the time, but you can have at least this one from my iPhone and I'll post the videos later.

Putting all of the furniture back in and assembling some new IKEA furniture and making the room presentable led us RIGHT up to the July 4th party at my place! It was awesome! Lots of people I haven't seen in awhile, even met some new people who were friends of friends. Some BBQ, some Signature Party Punch (it was called "Don't Ask, Don't Punch"), some Rock Band, and my people! Who could ask for more?

I am incredibly lucky to have such wonderful people around me. Major BIG props to Kyle for a ludicrous amount of energy and work that he brought with him last weekend. Thanks, bro!
