A little while ago Jenn introduced me to wasabi mayonnaise from Trader Joe's, although we have seen it appearing in other grocery stores as well.

Anyway, I've been experimenting with it and find it rather tasty as a spread on sandwiches. It's also good in potato salad. In tuna salad, however, the tuna tends to overpower the wasabi.

Unfortunately coleslaw made with it ain't so great, unless you like a good dose of heartburn and upset tummy. Perhaps diluting the wasabi mayo with traditional mayo wouldn't cause gastronomic distress yet still provide the dish with a bit of zing.

(In case you don't know, wasabi is a very pungent green Japanese condiment much like horseradish in flavor and aroma and strength; it's often applied to sushi.)

Check out your local store for some wasabi mayo, then, for a more exciting spread and let me know what you think of it.
