So have you noticed what seems to be a growing trend to add "ever" after words that really don't need it?

First ever...

Largest ever...

Oldest ever...

There cannot be a second first, a larger largest, or an older oldest. Why do people have to add "ever" to make it seem like they really mean it?

That just irks me. The most ever.

Speaking of language, did you hear Bush's latest?

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

I don't doubt it.

Remember, you can have freedom only if you do what you're told.

And some recently seen or heard-about bumper stickers:

11/02/04 The end of an error

and

Redefeat Bush in '04

I'm not crazy about Kerry, but I'll take the devil I don't know instead of the one I do.
