Got to work this morning and walked up to the gym to shower after the bike ride, as usual, but found that my entire locker room had been taken over by a movie shoot! I mean, there were cameras, a couple of those director chairs, cameras, lights, and cables, cables, cables. And about a zillion people mulling about, all seeming to be doing nothing. Signs said it was for "Star Barz" or something like that, but that's probably a code and I don't know whether it was really a movie or just TV.

I started asking about access to my locker (hoping that I could get to it and then go down to a different shower) but then realized I had forgotten to bring my locker key with me. That's the first time that's happened in a few years, so perhaps it was fated to be. By the time I walked back to my office to get the key, I realized what little sweat I had had dried off, so I used the office restroom to water my face and head and arms a bit, then just changed there. No anti-perspirant, but no meetings either, so no harm done.

It does piss me off that there was apparently no warning whatsoever that my locker room and shower would be unavailable. The CSUN athletic and cleaning staff have this rather inconsiderate habit of not posting notice when they intend to go away on vacation, renovate, or wax the floors, so it's always a bit of a gamble finding the locker room and shower open, or someone to let you in if not.

And in other news...

Did you see the results of this year's Ig Nobel Prizes? My favorite is in the category Nutrition: Dr. Yoshiro Nakamats of Tokyo, Japan, for photographing and retrospectively analyzing every meal he has consumed during a period of 34 years (and counting).

34 years!         Yikes.
