Last week in Ithaca was heavenly, even if the sun showed itself only for a few hours.

We started with Wednesday night at Taughannock Farms Inn, a lordly-appearing place situated with a grand overlook of Cayuga Lake, about halfway along its western side. We'd always wondered about it while living in Ithaca so decided to splurge with a night there, given this four-day period is our only vacation together for the year.

The room included a jacuzzi tub, which we filled with bubblebath to accompany a bottle of champagne, for a luxurious soak. It also sported THE most comfortably plush bed I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. Highly recommended.

Thursday morning we strolled up the path to Taughannock Falls, enjoying the fresh, brisk air and colored leaves. After that, over to Cornell Orchards for cider, then to the university to visit several long-time friends and the Campus Store.

Our room at the inn had a large floor mirror that entertained Kelley for minutes at a time.

On the path to Taughannock Falls.
