Nice bit of technology news: Eye-Fi!

This is a wireless SD memory chip for digital cameras that automatically uploads photos not only to a computer, but also to many different online photo sharing services.

The whole idea is that many people don't share photos as much as they want to simply because of the hassle of hooking up the camera to the computer, moving the files, sorting and storing them, and then uploading and tagging them.

This takes almost all of the pain out of the process. The photos just fly from the camera to the upload service without the need to do anything at all.

Of course you have to configure the card the very first time, and set some default services and permissions, but after that - nothing. No charge for any of this, and the card's only $100 for 2 GB, which ain't a bad price at all for the convenience it offers.

I would have bought this thing on sight, except that my camera takes the CF format memory cards rather than the physically smaller SD ones. However, if you use the SD cards you may find this a nice component.
