We have a system of three large storms bearing down on us this weekend. The forecasters say we're to expect 5-10 inches of rain and 10-12 feet of snow up in the nearby mountains.

We should have an interesting next few days! If it all comes to pass, this will be the largest storm in three years. That means mudslides for all the areas burned out this summer.

For us, it means a nice fire tonight, and probably tomorrow afternoon. We wanted to have one on Christmas Eve, but the high winds and dry conditions ruled it out. I'm pretty sure that won't be a barrier back in Ithaca.

A trip up to the mountains next weekend is likely for us, to play in the snow with Kelley and the dogs.

In other news...

The people at Cornell asked me to look into local videoconferencing services at Kinko's, because they think iChat ain't good enough. That's likely to happen next week.

My expected office move didn't happen over break. As of this morning, the other person's new office is ready, but the movers cannot come until February to move her things. She does not have much to move, though, so perhaps college staff will do it sooner and force me to move as well. Gosh, I hope not.
