Yeah... I moved back to Ithaca for the weather. Like the snowstorm I drove through to get here this afternoon. Gusting winds, white-outs, slush, freezing temperatures. Yeah, better than the predictable sunny and 80 degrees it was on Friday in Northridge.

Before encountering the storm I did see a deer and some wild turkeys on the rural drive leading up to the Interstate. These quaint two-lane freeways may take some getting used to again, but it's good to be back. I don't particularly *like* the cold and snow - it's the variation that I prefer, the fluctuation of the weather and its effects.

Work at the new job starts in the morning, although it will be mostly meetings and orientation stuff. As I listen to the howling wind outside I'm sure it will be a cold morning getting into an unwarmed vehicle for the drive in, but my long-saved winter gear will beat it off and get me to campus and office like it used to in a seemingly other lifetime.
