So... our weather here continues! The past two days we've had again the freezing rain, snow, sleet, and any mix of those you care to combine. Today - even better! - we had thunder and lightening mixed in!

I was outside for a while late this afternoon just listening to the rain falling and the wind blowing and the groaning trees crackling and clinking. I think it highly probable that the power will be going out tonight. These poor trees cannot long sustain the tremendous weight that 1/2 inch or more of ice adds to every single one of their branches of any size.

The photos below show just how thick this stuff is. What looks like snow to some extent is thick ice - tremendously heavy stuff - it would not be safe to walk in the woods tonight.

Ice encasing the buds and branches of one of the trees at the house.

Beautiful, but not likely good for the trees.
