Yucky in the Sink

What else can fail on the house while it's on the market?

The kitchen sink backed up today (with all kinds of ground-up food bits surfacing and coating the nice clean basin). Apparently the problem lies somewhere fairly deep: the full length of the snake didn't relieve the clog, although no other aspects of the plumbing appear to be affected.

On the other hand, the back-up did reveal a hole in the sink's downpipe that we didn't know about... so we can fix both at one time. We're putting off work on this until after Sunday's open house, in case a big mess results.

Working from home went really well this past week: finished up a fairly big task of porting the new calendar system's add-event interface into the old one's style and system of behavior so that there will be minimal adjustment for most of the people who have to use it to input data through it.

We submitted all the mortgage paperwork and finally nailed down all the issues arising from the home inspection, most of which center around the largest irregularly shaped window and some of the sliding glass doors having lost their hermetic seals (and therefore fogging up and not arresting heat loss). All appears to be on track, then, for the new house and I gain optimism about moving in there on schedule.

Did I mention it has a skylighted jacuzzi en suite with the master bedroom? This is separate from the hot tub out on the deck overlooking the valley.

:-)
