Although our real estate agent could not be present for another open house yesterday, we had one anyway, to take advantage of the neighbors' advertised one. We had five potentials stop by, all of whom then went on to the other house. The leeching seems to work well - they all came to see that one, and saws ours first instead.

But not well enough. No offers so far, so we've lowered our price by $25,000 today. We'll see whether that helps. We've also instructed our agent to put out a statement to "bring all offers, sellers highly motivated" because we're not comfortable carrying two mortgages on only one salary. All options at WB have come up negative.

On the good-news side, we have a friend who's willing to sit the house for us while it stays on the market. That's a great relief.

One strange thing though...

Last evening we put out our recycling bins as we normally do every week. A little while later Shelley went down to put something else in one and noticed that all of the house flyers from the plastic box on our mailbox post had been thrown into one of the bins.

Weird!

Was this the result of some kids playing around? Never heard or saw any (there are none around).

Is the neighbor mad about competition?

Does someone not want other people to buy the house because they do?

None of these motives/actions make sense to us.
