"In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." Kahlil Gibran

off for the weekend

Gonna go spend the weekend at my son's house. Its always fun to go there. They do a pretty good job of spoiling me..I get to go out for dinner...Sunday morning breakfast..sometimes a movie.

This weekend is gonna be pretty special...they're taking me to Churchill Downs for the horse races. I've got my two bucks tucked away for my bet...just gotta see what color silks are available, then I'll pick the winner.

Half the fun of the visit is my granddaughter..she's 9, going on 39. Its a contest..can I drive her crazy before she sends me to the funny farm. I do my best to teach her some little thing that will drive her parents crazy when I come back home. Its the least I can do.

The funniest part is listening to her father...all those things I said to him when he was a kid...that he swore he'd never say to his kid...are falling out of his mouth. Its a riot!

My daughter-in-law is always very kind to me during our visits...well..she's kind to me all the time, but especially when I'm there for a few days. She makes sure I'm comfortable and entertains me while my son plays on the computer or hides in his workshop.

There is the Scrabble tournament. Ever since my son was 10 or 11 years old, we've played Scrabble...he won the championship last year so I'm out for revenge this time.

For all you mothers...have a Happy Mother's Day.

For all you people who still have your mothers with you...call her.

For those who have lost their mothers...remember the good times and smile at the memory.

Have a great weekend.
