"In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." Kahlil Gibran

the good and the bad....

This has been one of those days...a little bit a good..a little bit a bad.

First of all, the sun was shining brightly all day..what a blessing. I was so sick of rain and gloom.

The farmer who has a field in front of our place baled his hay today. I took great joy in sitting on our front porch and watching the process. He moves slowly across the field with this huge machine and every now and again, he stops and burps out a bale of hay...well, he doesn't actually burp it out..the machine does. Fun to watch.

My singular tomato plant is doing well...meaning that I haven't killed it off yet. The sunflowers are sprouting right up...by the end of the season they'll be 6ft tall..all that from one little seed. Boggles the mind.

The sad part of the day was when we took Buford to a new home. Buford is a dog my girls brought home one day about 6 months ago. He's mostly golden lab...not sure what that's mixed with. But..when they found him, he was wandering along the side of the road...his ribs, spine and hip bones were sticking out all over the place. He looked like he hadn't eaten in weeks. So...they picked him up and brought him here to the hill.

He thrived...put on weight, learned a few simple commands and loved running in the woods and the fields. We thought he was pretty well behaved and grew to love him.

Apparently he growls when new people come around or when he's in an uncomfortable situation. He'll run away if confronted, but he does growl. He's a dog..they growl.

A neighbor put some cows in the field in back of us and we didn't want Buford to wander up there and make a pest of himself, so...all things considered, it was time to find a place for him to run free....and we did....and today was the day of his departure....and we're sure gonna miss him.
We think he'll be happier in his new home...we didn't want to have to keep him chained up...he loves his freedom so.

Surprisingly, I have no aches or pains from the jaunt around the track yesterday...and I did sleep rather well last night.

Life is good.
