2007-01-01 7:43 PM light up the candles.... Today IS Alia's birthday...Alia is the daughter of my baby girl Mickie, my re-headed granddaughter. She has a beautiful smile and the cutest dimples you've ever seen. It doesn't seem possible, but she's 15...(or is it 16 ?) years old today.
So Happy Birthday Alia! Today is also my brother Fred's birthday. He was the first baby born in Auburn, NY in 1935. Unfortunately, he wasn't here to celebrate, he passed away about 14 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. He was a year and half older than I..many people thought we were twins. He failed 4th grade, so I caught up with him during grammar school and we spent the rest of our years through high school in the same class. I always thought it was such a tragedy that the best looking guy in class was my brother. He was a handsome guy and had the charming personality to go with it. I wish you could have seen him in his Navy uniform..he looked like a movie star. Women loved him and men wanted to be him. He was a mischevious fellow with a very wry sense of humor. He loved practical jokes. Kids and dogs loved him. Fred was a pretty quiet guy and very seldom spoke of his own woes. He was a good friend and always willing to lend a hand. He left this world a better place than he found it. I am grateful for the wonderful years we shared. So..to two of my favorite people...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
