"In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." Kahlil Gibran

are they extinct???

Not too long ago, when I was visiting a friend, I was surprised to see the number of toys in the children's playroom. So many I lost count after 15. That's not counting the video games.

That got me to thinking about some of the games I used to play as a child. Does anyone remember any of these:

Hopscotch..Hide & Seek..Red Light/Green Light..Jacks..Kick The Can..Go Fish..Old Maid..Checkers..Paper Dolls..Jigsaw Puzzles..Jump Rope..London Bridge Is Falling Down..Ring Around The Rosie..The Farmer in the Dell..Blind Man's Bluff..Dominoes..I Spy..Treasure Hunt?

Do children still blow the fluff off a dandelion and make a wish, and then make rings of the stems and connect them together to make a necklace?

Are May baskets never to be seen again?

Do they still make forts of snow? and snow angels? and snowball fights?

Does anybody go outside at dusk to catch fireflies?

I would hate to think these activities have all become extinct ... somehow I think they were a lot more fun than sitting in front of the tube pushing a button.

*sigh*
