Read/Post Comments (4) "In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." Kahlil Gibran |
2007-04-18 10:17 PM what has happened? What has happened to the world?
Like everyone else, I am stunned by the events in Virginia. It seems like the whole world is in mourning...and it should be. We are destroying each other. It is senseless. We cannot send our kids to school without worrying if they will survive. It's fearful to even walk into a convenience store or a bank lest there be a robbery going on. Children can't play in their own yards without constant supervision to protect against sexual predators or kidnappers. It seems there's danger everywhere. How did this happen? What can we do to change it? It's typical for us old folks to look back at the good old days...and I am no exception. I long for the days when neighbor looked after neighbor. A time when people helped each other without thought. I miss children with good manners and respect for themselves and others. I want to see job applicants wearing dresses and shirts and ties. I'd like to see churches as full on Sunday as the bars on Saturday night. I'd also like to see families sitting around a dinner table every night, talking to each other. I am in mourning for my world...seems I've lost it and will never find it again. How sad. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
