Read/Post Comments (0) "In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." Kahlil Gibran |
2007-05-06 4:14 PM it takes all kinds.... It takes all kinds of people to make this old world so interesting...and the lobby of a hotel is the perfect place to see and hear them all.
I guess living atop in hill, out in the middle of nowhere, I'd kinda forgotten what it was like to be in the middle of such varied human activity. There was a couple here who were having a renewal cermony after 25 years of marriage...a really cute couple they were. They had their 6 children..plus their significant others, and grandchildren...quite the gathering. Four dudes from PA were here to see their favorite band.."Social Distortion"..which should tell you what kind of music they played. The guys were tattooed from head to toe with piercings everywhere. Into the mixture came a church group of kids and adults who were here to see a baseball game. The thing that surprised me most was how friendly everyone was and how easy the conversations came. You'd think none of these people would have much in common however the chatter was non stop and the laughter lingered into the night. I find that absolutely amazing. The dudes invited me to go party with them...I think they might have run away fast had I said yes..but it was cute of them to ask. They left today so I'll have to be on the lookout for possible replacements. I seem to be on sensory overload...the sights, sounds, smells..all swirling around in my head and I suspect it will take some time to get the details all on paper..probably best done when I get home to the quiet. Needless to say, I'm having a wonderful time and making memories that will make me smile on those rainy days. Netta had to work today...seems to me she must have let staff know she wasn't happy about yesterday and they were definitely "at attention" today. She certainly has a way about her...they (the staff) were still smiling but you could sense their will to keep Miss Netta happy. I love it...I love to see her at work and know that she does such a good job. She makes me very proud..in so many ways. I'm so glad to be here.
